AJ Bantugon, CPA

AJ Bantugon is a Tax Manager at Sorren, based in the firm’s Philippines office. A Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines, she brings deep experience in preparing and reviewing complex individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with both federal and state tax laws. AJ works across a range of industries, including professional services, dental and medical practices, and financial services, supporting multi-state businesses with revenues typically between $5 million and $10 million.

Throughout her career, AJ has played a key role in managing tax engagements and delivering thoughtful tax planning solutions for businesses and high-net-worth individuals. She is known for her ability to handle complex reviews, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear, well-organized documentation that supports long-term compliance. In addition to her technical expertise, AJ is deeply committed to developing others—supervising, mentoring, and training tax staff and seniors to foster both professional growth and team consistency.

While much of her role operates behind the scenes, AJ finds fulfillment in supporting clients through proactive compliance and tax-saving strategies. She has helped clients untangle years of disorganized tax records, evaluate prior filings, determine whether amendments were necessary, and establish streamlined documentation processes to support future filings. She is also focused on helping clients navigate emerging challenges, including evolving tax legislation and increasingly complex multi-state nexus issues, by staying ahead of regulatory changes and supporting proactive year-end planning.

Born in Manila and raised in Batangas, AJ graduated at the top of her class and has been invited back to her alma mater as a guest of honor and resource speaker. Outside of work, AJ enjoys photography, travel, and exploring nature—from capturing sunrises and landscapes to backpacking adventures both locally and abroad. She is currently a fan of the LA Dodgers, enjoys reading, and hopes to one day backpack across Europe and trek through Patagonia.
